Negative income tax and universal basic income in the eyes of Aiyagari

چکیده
Abstract We compare two welfare programs: the universal basic income (UBI) and negative tax (NIT). Under a linear system, we show that (i) NIT can replicate allocation of UBI exactly by providing an identical marginal effective schedule, (ii) budget is always smaller than UBI. According to our quantitative model, which calibrated approximate wealth distributions in United States, optimal pay everyone 7.2% average income. also achieve similar with much (2.3% GDP) subsidy generous very poor quickly phases out as increases.
